New Module: Brave New World Survival Guide

Hello, everyone. It's been a few weeks since my last post. As I have mentioned in the previous article, I have been discouraged by the changes that the current administration has been making with regards to federal protections, civil liberties and protections that students and workers have against discriminatory employment behaviors and practices. It has made me lose a lot of interest in keeping up with the website, even though I have found myself with more free time on my hands lately. However, as bad as everything is under the current Trump administration, for better or for worse, it has given me a new direction with which to take my blog.

I have not read this book, but the subject matter seems amply appropriate for the topic of today's article.

As such, I have decided to start a new module to discuss all the sweeping changes that the current administration is going to make to consumer protections, student rights, employee rights, and civil rights. I have been following along closely with the news these past few months, and in a follow-up article, I will be writing a review article on one of my favorite independent news outlets that I find both highly informative and unbiased in their communication with the general public. As an added bonus, many of the moderators on this news outlet are professionals in US constitutional law, so I am confident that they are very knowledgeable on the topics I will discuss in future articles on this blog.

Of course, not to toot my own horn, but I consider myself to be well-versed in investigative literature review, given my background as a soon-to-be PhD graduate in a STEM field (biomedical science). I know how to look through multiple sources and discern what information is reliable and what isn't, due to the nature of the work I do within my field. I don't rely on single sources. I try to look at things through multiple perspectives and angles, which I feel I have reliably down in the previous articles that I have written for this blog. Also, by nature of my work as young research scientist, I have learned to fact-check myself and to proceed with caution whenever discussing controversial topics. At the same time, however, I am human, and am inherently prone to my own biases and human error. As such, I will be careful to effectively communicate as best as I know how, and correct any sources I later find to be in error (including myself).

As you can probably tell from the title of this blog post, the new module will build on what I have discussed in my previous post, and will try to communicate how to navigate the many various changes the Trump administration has made to the federal government and our civil rights and liberties. I will try to be as transparent as possible in my reporting, and with every article, I post, I will cite my sources. I will also try to condense the several hours of news I have been reading and writing into easily digestible, bite-size morsels for readers that don't have the time or energy to watch the same several hours of news broadcasts and read the same dozens of news articles that I did. However, transparency as I said before is key, so I will be sure to include all receipts and sources for everything I discuss.

As unfortunate as everything currently is, I think this should at the very least provide for an interesting new direction with which to take my blog. For anyone that hasn't forgotten that this blog still exists, I hope this will keep you engaged and interested in it. Thank you very much, and enjoy the rest of your day.
